Two Men Indicted for Running Dark Web Marketplace Selling Stolen Data

Two men, Alex Khodyrev, 35, from Kazakhstan, and Pavel Kublitskii, 37, from Russia, have been indicted in the U.S. for their involvement in managing a dark web marketplace called WWH Club. The platform specialized in the sale of stolen personal information, credit card details, and bank account information.

Details:

  • The pair administered WWH Club (wwh-club[.]ws) and other sister sites, which functioned as marketplaces, forums, and training centers for cybercrime.
  • Users could purchase stolen PII, computer passwords, and financial data, and access cybercrime training courses.
  • Between 2014 and 2024, the site reportedly hosted over 353,000 users globally.

FBI Investigation:

  • The FBI launched an investigation in 2020, with undercover agents paying $1,000 in Bitcoin for a course on conducting cyber fraud.

Criminal Charges:

  • Khodyrev and Kublitskii have been charged with conspiracy to commit access device fraud and wire fraud.
  • If convicted, they could each face up to 20 years in prison. Their assets, including luxury vehicles, have also been targeted for forfeiture.

WWH Club's Future:

Despite the indictments, WWH Club remains operational, and other administrators appear to be distancing themselves from the arrested men.
